review: degustabox (jan)

Hello hello hello!

I’m SUPER excited to share with you that January’s Degustabox was my favorite Degustabox that I have received to date. For those of you who are late to hopping on the Degustabox train, it’s a food subscription service that delivers a monthly box filled with 9-14 delicious food products. Unlike many other food-based subscription boxes, Degustabox is not exclusively a snack food box (which is what most food-themed boxes I’ve noticed in the past have been). They have a variety of recipe ingredients, while still incorporating the essential sweet and salty snacks that we all love. Each box is only $19.99 including delivery (but your box could be less if you use the discount code from my secret codes page).

Let’s kick this off by checking out two food items that you wouldn’t find in a typical snack subscription box: Monini extra virgin olive oil and Uncle Dougie’s wicked good no-fry wing marinade! These practical pantry essentials are the perfect additions to any weekend meal. The olive oil is #1 in Italy and 100% Italian, which I really appreciate as I’ve been to Italy and can attest that they are extremely talented in the culinary arts. I also love that they included Uncle Dougie’s marinade, as it’s tricky to ship meat in a subscription box so it’s nice to include something that at least pairs with it.

I believe I’ve seen this Crown Maple Sugar included in a previous subscription box of some sort. Perhaps it was a DailyGoodieBox? Regardless, the packaging is absolutely beautiful and the maple sugar itself tastes amazing! I love that it’s certified organic and it pairs perfectly with oatmeal.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love hummus. So, when I spied these Maya Kaimal sea salt naan chips I was so excited as they provide the perfect excuse to get some hummus to go with them! Hummus is still on my grocery list but these individual packs of chips will be perfect for travel and enjoying the deliciousness that is pita and hummus on-the-go.

Fruit is my absolute favorite food group, but I’ve never been a huge fan of coconuts. However, I was very surprised to find that I love these Dole coconut water peach and mango fruit cups! I’ve heard that coconut water is packed with nutrients and is beneficial for heart health (I’m not a medical expert though so be sure to research this yourself before you go coconut-water-crazy!), so it’s nice to know that you’re getting some extra nutrients in while munching on your favorite fruits.

The Loacker white chocolate bar was the first thing in the box that I ate (it’s always the sweets that get me!). It tasted like the high-quality chocolate that I’ve tried in Switzerland, and was airy on the inside providing an interesting texture. Yum!

I love Wasa bread! I had no idea that wasa ‘thins’ existed though, so I’m excited to try this lower-calorie and whole grain wasa option. Unsure of what to pair these with… hummus perhaps? Cream cheese? Luckily there were some recipes included in the box so maybe I’ll whip one of those up!

Have you guys been introduced to the whole “using a spiralizer to turn vegetables into pasta” craze? A friend of mine used to make spaghetti out of zucchini and eat it nearly every night. I’m more of a traditional pasta type of gal, but when I noticed this organic edamame spaghetti I was curious as to how it would taste! I still haven’t had the chance to try it but I’ll be sure to update you when I do.

BOOM! I love when my favorite go-to snacks are included in subscription boxes! I’ve been a fan of Boomchickapop for years now and was happy to find two small bags for on-the-go snacking. Well, one bag will be used for on-the-go snacking. I’m munching on the other one right now…

I’m not a huge cheese person, so I’m going to be honest and say that these Whisps Cheddar Cheese Crisps just weren’t for me. However, that’s taking advice from someone who thinks Cheez It’s are too cheesy, so do with that information what you will. It got major points for packaging though, I love the fonts, color scheme, and layout of shapes!

With each Degustabox that I receive, I make sure to highlight my favorite item in the box. BAM! These Go Organically fruit snacks got my inner-child SO hyped up!! I love that they have natural flavors and colors from natural sources instead of all of the dyes and weird ingredients found in bargain brand fruit snacks. It was also very nice that 8 pouches were included, so I was able to enjoy this snack 8 different times! LOVE LOVE LOVE these.

Overall, I loved the January Degustabox. As I mentioned at the beginning, it was my absolute favorite Degustabox yet! There were more ready-to-eat snack products than usual, and there was only one food that I didn’t enjoy so far. Before signing up for Degustabox, I would have never dreamed that a box of fruit snacks, Boomchickapop, and white chocolate would show up on my doorstep. The excitement that comes with knowing a surprise box of food is arriving each month, and the enjoyment that comes from unboxing it, is so incredible!

If you want to “binge-watch”, so to speak, some of my previous Degustabox reviews, check out my review of their November or December boxes. Also, be sure to look in my secret codes section for my excludive 50% code!! Every Degustabox is delivered monthly with 9-14 products, and there is no charge for shipping. Be sure to check out their website, Facebook, and Instagram, and tell them Happily Unboxing sent ya!

I received this subscription in exchange for my honest review. All opinions stated are unbiased and my own.
