review: degusta box (february 2019)

This is a bittersweet post! I just received word from Degusta Box that “after three years of deliciousness and supporting [them] month after month, [they] have decided to put a pause on the production of Degusta Box USA.” Their loyal team of bloggers and subscribers alike was assured that this wasn’t a goodbye, and just a see-you-later, but nevertheless it was very disappointing news! I still remember the very first Degustabox that I ever received and how exciting it was. Those pasta chips were so dreamy!! I won it in an Instagram giveaway, which lead to a follow-up conversation with their company, which lead to a wonderful partnership filled with aesthetic photos and delicious snacks. I am SO sad to see them go but am hopeful for a new and exciting adventure ahead!

Look at all of their amazing boxes from 2018! Which ones were you able to try?

Just Add Classic Guacamole Mix $1.19 Each

The first (and my favorite!) item included in this box was three sets of Just Add Classic Guacamole Mix. It’s super easy to prepare and just requires adding an avocado! Even though I think I would looove these I’m trying to hold onto them as a potential gift item – we’ll see how long I last!

PBfit Peanut Butter Powder

Another interesting item included in this month’s box is PB Fit Peanut Butter Protein Powder. I don’t eat very much meat (especially not red meat), so I am always looking for healthy ways to incorporate more protein into my diet. I am excited to add these little beauties to my smoothies! Cheers to healthy options!

Popcorners Spicy Queso $3

There were also two bags of Spicy Queso PopCorners! As mentioned in many of my previous reviews, I’m not a huge fan of spicy foods. So, these were given as a gift. However, I’ve tried the classic flavor of PopCorners in a previous Degusta Box and loved them! They are a curious blend between a chip and a popcorn kernel.

BeanSmash! Chipotle Black Bean and Cheesy Pinto Bean $1.50 Each

Also included were two Bean Smash cups! This is a clever idea for an on-the-go snack or easy dip, but I’m not a huge fan of beans. However, I do love that they are a great vegetarian form of protein! The convenience factor is huge too.

Sourdough Craft Beer Pretzel Rings $3.30

These pretzels looked perfect to pair with beer cheese! However, I was a bit underwhelmed with the taste. They were a bit stale? Maybe I’m just used to normal thinner pretzels – and these are sourdough. This bag was absolutely gigantic though.

Manitou Trading Company Truffle, Parmesan, & Black Garlic Seasoning $5 & Emmy’s Organics Coconut Cookies Vanilla Bean $2.50

The next two items included were Manitou Seasoning and Emmy’s Organics Coconut Cookies. I was delighted to see Emmy’s Organics included in this month’s box because I have actually worked with them independently in 2017! I believe they are also being sold at Starbucks now, which is so exciting! The seasoning also seems nice, I just haven’t figured out what to pair it with yet. I don’t love rich truffle tastes but do love parmesan, so we’ll see what happens!

Raindrops Candy Taco $5

I’m not going to lie, this Candy Taco is a cute gift but it does not at all look like something I’d like to eat. Even though this isn’t my style, I’m hoping to give it to someone soon so they are able to enjoy it! The shell is paper and the inside is stuffed with 23 gummy taco fillings.

Manitou Trading Company Piri Piri Sauce Starter $3

Upon picking up the final item in this month’s box, I was a bit confused. Is Piri Piri a commonly known sauce? Regardless, I love that it’s non-GMO and that all you have to do to use this sauce is add water and olive oil! I’m not sure what I’ll add this to yet, but it recommends sauces, soups, stews, etc. on the packaging.

And that’s all folks! I am a bit disappointed to be ending the subscription box on a mediocre note (I’m honestly only really into the guac and protein powder), but have fond memories of boxes that have absolutely rocked my world. My favorite ever Degusta Boxes would have to be August 2017 (no blog post for this one because I won it in an Instagram giveaway!), March 2018 (so many goodies in this one!! still daydreaming about those cappucino wafer cookies), December 2018 (this wins the award for most practical box – I used every single item rather quickly!), and January 2019 (so much chocolate!!).

I’m not sure when we’ll be hearing back from Degusta Box again, but keep an eye on their social channels and website to get the latest, most up-to-date information. I’ll also be sure to post on the blog if I hear anything about them coming back!

I received this subscription in exchange for my honest review. All opinions stated are unbiased and my own. Thanks for reading!
