Welcome to your monthly Degustabox review! For those of you who are new to the party, Degustabox is a monthly subscription program that delivers a box of delicious food straight to your door. It’s priced at $19.99 per month (shipping is free!) and I have an e x c l u s i v e discount code available for you right here!
I was very pleased with this month’s box. I know that everyone’s preferences are different, but I love grab-and-go snacks that I haven’t tried before. This box had plenty of those! They’re usually pretty healthy as well, which is a definite plus!
The first two items in this month’s box were two SunRype Apple Strawberry Fruit to Go strips, and two Chia Shots from The Chia Company. I am a sucker for anything fruit leather / fruit snack related, and was really pleased with the SunRype product. The texture was similar to licorice and the taste was great! I haven’t tried the Chia Shots yet, but I know that chia is super healthy – packed with omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, fiber, iron, and calcium!
The PBCrave Nut Butters were d e l i c i o u s. There were five flavors available, and I received chocolate chip cookie dough and sweet & dark chocolate. The other available flavors were coconut milk chocolate, chocolate banana, and raspberry white fudge & dark chocolate. I was very pleased with the flavors that I was able to try! I think they’re supposed to be used as a topping on bread or waffles or something, but I may or may not have just eaten them as a snack…
I feel like it’s an unspoken rule that each Degustabox will include a meat jerky product of some kind. This month is was a low-calorie chicken snack stick from Mighty Spark Foods. I don’t really eat meat, but I love the packaging of these, and the fact that with each purchase of Mighty Spark’s small-batch meat, the company donates a meal to a child in need. Hooray for giving back!
Next up: a Garden of Life Chocolate Sea Salt GOL bar! Protein bars are usually a bit too heavy for my stomach and tend to just sit there, so I haven’t tried this item yet. However, the natural benefits are clear: real certified organic, non-gmo, and gluten-free too!
The Bauducco chocolate wafers were SO delicious, but I was disappointed by the packaging. Upon opening the package with the red tab, two wafers immediately tumbled to the floor and broke into a million powdery pieces. That was pretty disappointing. It would make more sense for them to put this strip in the center of one of their bars, instead of in between two of them. This might make it less likely for them to fall out.
These Hippeas (Vegan White Cheddar and Happenin’ Hickory) were delicious! They are similar in texture to a Cheeto, but with a very different flavor. And of course, they are much healthier! I have actually been looking into eating more chickpeas lately as they are an excellent source of protein! I don’t eat a lot of meat, so I am constantly looking for vegetarian / vegan ways to enhance my protein intake.
A Marion’s Kitchen General Tso Meal Kit was also included. I have been receiving Degustaboxes for over a year now, and I think this is the first ever meal kit that they have included! I love General Tso chicken, but am worried about undercooking the chicken so I will be making this in a few weeks with friends. This is an awesome item to include, and I hope to see another item like this in a future box!
Unfortunately the Marquis Citrus Yuzu was pretty beat up by the time it made its way to me (partially pictured). Though the quality of the packaging could perhaps be improved, the design was top-notch! It’s also an organic beverage, which is unusual in the beverage industry. Hooray for enjoying drinks without harmful chemicals or preservatives!
There was also a tube of Tigertail mustard. I think this is the third time that I have received a Tigertail mustard product in a Degustabox. I personally don’t use mustard so I’ll be passing this on to a friend! The packaging on this item was a little beat up too.
One of the largest items in this month’s box was the Better Chip Jalepeño & Cilantro chips. The packaging is SO cute and they are whole grain! I am excited to try these with guacamole.
There were also BBQ Almond CrrrrunchBites from Handfulls! I’m not sure exactly how to categorize these, but it seems like a cross between a nut and a chip. They are gluten free and very yummy! There’s definitely a kick in the sweet BBQ flavor.
I don’t like coconut so the Simply Coconut GoCo Crunchy Coconut Bites (wow, try saying that three times fast!) were just not for me. The logo is adorable though!
Last but definitely not least we have some instant Idahoan mashed potatoes! I received the classic and four cheese varieties. This is the perfect instant side to accompany any meal, so I’m surprised I haven’t whipped either of them up yet!
Overall I was a huge fan of this month’s box. They called it ‘The Lunch Box’, and I can definitely agree that there are many good lunch foods included! I may or may not be eating some of the chickpea puffs for “lunch” right now…
